The Broncos Hold Steady at No. 7 in the Nation
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In a surprising turn of events, even with a break in their schedule, the Western Michigan hockey team has successfully maintained its position in the national rankings.
Remarkably, the Broncos have not shifted in either poll, proudly holding onto the No. 7 rank in the USCHO poll and an impressive No. 8 in the USA Hockey poll. The upper echelon of both rankings remains dominated by familiar rivals: Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State, North Dakota, and Minnesota Duluth occupy the top five spots this week.
Alongside the Broncos in the polls are several other teams from the NCHC, including notable contenders like North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth, and Denver. Additionally, teams such as Colorado College, Miami, Arizona State, and St. Cloud State are also receiving votes, indicating a competitive landscape. Interestingly, Omaha stands out as the only team within the conference that did not receive recognition in this week’s rankings.
Looking ahead, Western Michigan is set to resume competition on December 28 at the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off tournament. They will kick off the event with a match against Boston College, scheduled for 8:30 PM ET. This exciting tournament will take place at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, promising an electrifying atmosphere for college hockey fans.
